Before reading through these 12 steps or the 7 R's to Biblical Recovery I want to make a statement. Our salvation is rooted in Jesus Christ. Our ability to be delivered from our addictions is rooted and founded in the peace that only Jesus can give. No matter how much you work these steps, no matter how hard you try to be a good person and break free from your addictions, if you do not surrender your life to Christ, it means nothing. These 12 Steps and 7 R's are just a tool we use to point you to the one who can deliver you from the things that bind you! We pray as you work these steps and read through the 7 R's, you will come to know Jesus as your personal Saviour!
Realize- We realize that we have an addiction that stems from our fleshly desires due to our fallen state and that we cannot truly break free from our compulsive behaviors on our own.
-“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Romans 3:23 KJV
Recognize - We came to recognize that only one person, Jesus Christ, could deliver us from our addictions and satisfy the emptiness inside that we have long been trying to fill.
-“Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall
thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall
never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of
water springing up into everlasting life.”
John 4:13-14 KJV
Remorse - Realizing our fallen state and recognizing our need for a savior, we express sincere remorse to God for our wrongdoings.
-“For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of:
But the sorrow of the world worketh death.”
2 Corinthians 7:10 KJV
Repent - Having Godly sorrow for our wrongdoings, we humbly come to God and repent and ask for God’s forgiveness and to be set free from our addictions.
-“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and
to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:9 KJV
Reconcile - Once we have had a born-again experience and been reconciled to God, we strive to show that same forgiveness to others and reconcile with anyone who has wronged us or that we have wronged unless doing so would cause harm to them or others.
-“Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a
quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.”
Colossians 3:13 KJV
Remain - Having been saved by God’s Grace and set free from our addictions, we endeavor to remain in His will through prayer, dedication to His word, and fellowship with likeminded believers as often as possible.
-“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in
him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do
nothing.”
John 15:5 KJV
Rejoice - As born-again believers we set forth to rejoice in the goodness of God while sharing the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ to others who are struggling with addiction.
-“Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.”
Romans 12:15 KJV
